Critical Reflection

CRITICAL REFLECTION

The time has finally come. There were many hardships along the way, but there were also many happy moments. Due to several factors, my product (short film) greatly represents social groups or issues. As you are all aware, my short film is about a man who returns to his hometown only to find that no one remembers him. This is a universal representation of people, primarily young adults. The short clip illustrates how loneliness can lead to depression. Simply put, it demonstrates that no matter what occurs, a solution is always possible. This reflects social groups because young adults often experience extreme loneliness and act inappropriately. Young adults are not the only ones who could experience this; anyone may. These people just learn from the short video that there is always a way back. I always thought that this problem would arise when teenagers moved out of the house or, in some cases, fled, but that is not the case. Older folks are more significantly impacted by this. All of these people are represented by the young adult in my movie. He is essentially experiencing what many individuals in this world are. This movie demonstrates how to go past people's tendencies to forget, ignore, and leave.

The same font and subject are used to build a brand across my short film, Postcard, and social media. In addition to being what leaves a lasting impression on consumers, branding is crucial since it lets customers and clients know what to anticipate from your business. It is a strategy for standing out from the competition and emphasizing what it is about what you have to offer that makes you the better option. People may assume that because all three of them use the same typeface, nothing changes, but it actually does. The overall color of the movie is kind of grey, which goes well with it. Any business that has a brand benefits greatly. People instantly recognize a brand when they see a key phrase, letter, or graphic, such as McDonald's with the M. Fog is my trademark distinctive object. People will naturally think of my brand when they see fog. The audience is actively engaged by my product in numerous ways. The first method uses social media. I've been publishing polls for my readers to respond to. When I asked inquiries, they would respond. The key factor in audience interaction is a business' ability to expand.  Interacting with the audience gives them a reprieve from listening, and offers them an opportunity to speak out. They feel more a part of and connected to the occasion as well as the speaker as a result. The engagement will also help to make your speech memorable and establish a connection with the audience. The movie's interaction with the audience is one way to keep them entertained at all times. Heartbeats and montages are in my movie so the viewer will be intrigued.  Montages are beneficial because they act as an audience's highlight reel by displaying them key moments in short succession. Viewers can experience an event that would have lasted for several hours, days, or even years in a matter of minutes. Here is an example of a post I made on my Instagram account demonstrating how I engage with my followers to build a strong brand. They would respond after I had asked a query. As a method to promote my short film, I also posted giveaways where three of their friends who followed me would receive a free ticket. You can communicate with your audience in a variety of ways to establish a solid
connection.

My research influences my products and how they challenge conventions in various contexts. First off, poor color saturation is typical of suspense movies. Black, white, and grey are considered low-key colors because they define the city. It was extremely difficult to find a technique to acquire every color that way because this is a film where we had no funding, but we managed to do it by employing low light. A movie needs light, but when it's a suspense or horror movie, it's not necessary because the movie works better without it. We had to wait until nightfall to begin recording, and I must admit that I now think nighttime recording is incredibly great. Researching the suspense genre had both benefits and drawbacks. There are many things I learnt and contributed to the movie that made it much better, but there are also some things I left out since they didn't fit with my personal style. Research is crucial for undertakings like these. Overall, I had to overcome a lot of obstacles to make this short film, but because it has a limited budget, you had to start coming up with creative solutions. It still amazes me that this is now over. Although it was really difficult, I managed to gain many valuable lessons that I will apply to my future work. I discovered fresh approaches to building a real brand and all the necessary steps. It was such a positive experience, and the best part is that I now know how to engage with an audience should the need arise. It also taught me that no matter the difficulties, there is always a way around them if you keep trying. I won't ever forget this. This was also a lot of fun; I loved working with others and having a great teacher available anytime I needed support.

 PREPARING FOR CRITICAL REFLECTION

If I an honest with you guys I haven’t prepared myself for the critical reflection. Last year I did pretty pretty bad at it but I learned from my mistakes and I will do amazing this time. Where do I even begin I have to do a post with at least 1000 words answering 4 questions. These are the questions.

  • How do your products represent social groups or issues?
  • How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’?
  • How do your products engage with the audience?
  • How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?
I am pretty sure I am going to answer them in order. I just wanted to do a quick lineup before I begin writing.
For the first question I will talk about how people sometimes tend to get lonely but that there’s always a solution and to never give up this targets  all social groups but mainly teenagers. They are the most affected by this issue.
For the second question- I will explain how the social media, video, and postcard are all connected to the project itself and I will go more in depth with it.
For the third question I will talk about how the suspense and randomness of the film keeps people on their toes.
Lastly for the last question I will talk about how everyone has their on perspectives in things and how they should really feel about this issue.

I cant believe we almost done with this project. I will begin writing this tomorrow in class!!!

 POSTCARD

This is my Postcard it is a little blurry because of my computer it cant process higher quality but in reality it would be perfect. I worked so hard for it. Let me explain you guys the meaning behind this. The first slide/cover basically represent the short film itself. The guy looses everything he has no clue what to do with his life and he is tired of it. I put a shadow in the fog because it represents loneliness. He is leaving everything behind and changing his whole life for something that just occurred in one day to another without an explanation. The font is the same one I told you guys about. I really like the black font because you can clearly capture it and it matches with the film. In the other page is a picture of the actual film where I posted when the short film will cone out. Mark in your calendar's its coming out July 12th. I also posted the instagram account for people to follow and interact with the film. Social media is really good to bring more audience. I will be doing polls and posting more pictures maybe some behind the scenes so people know this short film worth it.

 Editing

Hey guys!!! I have really good news. Since i finished recording my project last week, I started editing my project. You guys know that I am not a fan of editing but I been taking a lot of time to make some research on how to edit. I been editing since the day I finished recording the project and honestly is not bad at all. The first few days I was looking at Youtube videos on how to edit and I found this really good account that honestly saved me.

This guy saved the project. The video itself is in another language which at first was really hard but there is subtitles. I liked this video a lot because it goes step by step and he explains every single little detail. The video is around 45 minutes and to be honest that is pretty long but it is so worth it. I haven’t finished editing but I am pretty sure I will be done Tomorrow night. In the next blog I will show you guys the postcard and I have to begin doing the critical reflection which I will be doing ASAP. I just wanted to let you guys know that the editing wasnt bad at all. It was all in my head but once I gave it a chance I was able to make something out of it. It obviously takes time but I am taking my time. I dont want to rush anything.

SOUND

Yep. Finally, the topic of sound will be discussed. Sound is incredibly important in a movie since it may transport viewers to a distinct universe, communicate the tale, and advance the plot. Sound can also elicit feelings and establish the mood of a movie. I'll use both dramatic and ambient music in my movie. For instance, the opening of my movie will feature background music of me having fun while I am traveling. Yet, the music will be loud when I return to my hometown, keeping everyone on their toes. I have some examples of music that I want to show you guys but it was super hard to find it because it has to be free copyright music.

https://pixabay.com/music/search/instrumental/track-listing

That is the website where I got all the music. It is super good because theres a variety of options and it has all you want. Overall I will be using only two sounds/music. The beginning and though-out. I really dont need any other sound because the film is chaotic and the sounds fits for all of it.

Another thing I have to tell you guys. For some reason my instagram account got deleted. I will create a new one soon and post everything I posted in the last one. I am sorry for this inconvenience. I finally finished recording my project. Today was the last day and it was honestly the best. I start editing tomorrow and I am not looking forwards for that. I gave 10 days to finish editing it. Wish me luck.

 Clothing/Attire

Today I will be talking about what we are going to wear in the film. I know I am a little late with this blog but I just was confused on what would the the perfect fit for the project. Since we are all teenagers we will be using daily basis clothes. This is because it shows the viewers that this film is happening in this years rather than old old days or futuristic days. We also tried having the same clothes for every shot corresponding to the day. For example, the first day I used the same fit. When I went to the airport I had a completely different fit because the scenario and time. It is super important to be consistent with the attire. I will show you guys some clothing we utilized for the video.

Our clothing is basically that. It represents middle age people.

Also, I filmed Yesterday once again. Unfortunately I am still missing 1 minute so I am panicking. I will try to take more shots but this is really concerning. That will be done by today.
